Like/Dislike of class format

In Mrs. Giles class, there are some pros and cons. The first thing I like is that it is organized. She tells us what the next few week's schedule is like and she also posts things on the blog. Secondly, I like the group work over the packets. The packets are usually long and boring but the groups can be fun. There are also some things I don't like about Mrs. Giles class. The group work is one of them because even though I like it more than packets, the people in the group can be distracting. Also, I don't like the novel groups. I don't feel that they help me learn anything.

Comments

Mrs. Giles, you had a few comments about my MLK paper. First, you said that my header needs to be TNR size 12. I changed it from calibri (body) 11 to what you said. Next, you said that I need to put a title on at the beginning of my second page. I did, naming it MLK vs. Lincoln. Finally, you told me that I had an excellent paper. I did a great job of introducing and closing my paragraphs. I also have my citations, although I did not use the A&E 2014 citation in my paper. I must have forgot to use that last cite thinking I only needed five. I now realize that I need six.

Chase Meike

Chase Mielke's blog is very factual and motivational. It is about what school really is about. He says that it is not about the education necessarily, it is about all the other elements. Its about getting prepared for the future and becoming a valuable element to society. Chase says that school prepares you for the trails of life as an adult. It prepares you for grief, deadlines, and sacrifices that will help you later. Chase's blog is a call out to students that motivates them to grow up and be mature and find their real purpose at school. He ends by saying "So, do yourself a favor: Man up. Woman up.  No more excuses.  No more justifications.  No blaming.  No quitting.  Just pick your head up.  Rip the cords out of your ears.  Grab the frickin’ pencil and let’s do this."

How to Ride a Bicycle

If I ever have to teach someone to ride a bike I would give them these instructions. First, reach your leg across the seat and sit square on it. Then lift your right leg onto the right pedal with your other foot still on the ground. Begin pedaling with your right foot and at the same time lifting your left foot onto the pedal. Be careful to maintain your balance while pedaling with both feet. If you lose your balance or fall, keep trying until you can successfully pedal around. Depending on your skill or age, you may need training wheels. Have fun and ride your bike safely!

pros and cons of homework

There are pros and cons of homework. One pro is that it helps the student learn the subject. It also helps them learn responsibility. Finally, it let's the teacher know how the student is doing. One con of homework is that it makes life hectic. You have to find spare time to do it and it sometimes keeps you up late into the night. Even though it helps you learn, it is not usually fun to have a hectic schedule. These are some pros and cons of homework in my opinion.

Charlie diary entry

If I was Charlie Gordon, I would have mixed feelings about being made smart. First of all, I would be excited about being able to think properly. Secondly though, I would be a little bit indecisive. If I had a brain disability, I wouldn't know what would happen if I did it, so I would have been scared. On the other hand, being smart for a few months would be as much good experience as the experiences of being challenged for a few years. Even if I was sure to die sooner, it might still be a good trade-off for being smart. Even after all of this, though, I would still be undecided. What would you choose in Charlie's spot?

Embarrassing my Parents

To be honest, I don't ever try to embarrass my parents. I don't think they ever try to embarrass me either. About the only way that my mom accidentally embarrasses me is by calling me Winsty in public. Also, she embarrasses me by forgetting things that I tell her. I probably embarrass my parents, too, although I do not try to. The main way I embarrass them is by probably by doing something that I was told by them not to do. It could also be just messing around in public in front of them. Besides this, I never try to embarrass my parents because it is not very nice.

St. Patrick's Day fairytale

Have you ever heard the bedtime story of the three leprechaun wishes? Well, one day, a man named Greg was walking through the Irish countryside. Suddenly, a small bearded man girded in green popped up out of the grass.
"Hello, how do you do?" he said.
Greg didn't know what to say. "Um, ok I guess. Who are you?"
"I am a powerful leperchaun that can grant you three wishes."
Greg didn't know what to think but he was very poor and in need so he decided to take the offer.
"What is your first wish?" Asked the leperchuan.
"My first wish is to have seven pigs."
"Your wish is granted," said the leperchaun. "What is your second?"
"My second wish is to have three chickens," said Greg because he was in great need of eggs.
"Your wish is granted," said the leperchaun. "And what is your third wish."
By this time, Greg was beginning to feel very greedy because he realized that he could have anything in the world. "My wish is to have unlimited wishes," said Greg.
"Ah, you think you can outsmart me like that you fool. Well you are mistaken," said the leperchaun as he took back what Greg had wished for and bounding away through the grass left Greg poorer than ever.

Muppets

The two muppets I wish to compare/ contrast are Ms. Piggy and Kermit the frog. A few reasons that these two are different is because; Kermit is a green frog. Ms. Piggy is a pink pig. Kermit is male, Piggy is female. Piggy likes Kermit, but Kermit doesn't like piggy. They are also very similar in many ways, too. First of all, they are both muppets. They are also both very main characters in the muppet world. This is how these two muppets relate to each other.

Traditions and holidays

My family has some annual traditions. Every year, we go over to the neighbors and shoot a couple of cows to butcher. This takes place around May. Usually, there isn't a specific date but I will just say that the date was the 14. From now on, if the government accepts my petition, of course, May 14 will be the official cow-slaughtering day of the U.S. On this day, everyone will be allowed to slaughter a cow with any weapon. As long as they dispose of these cows correctly or eat them, they can kill up to five. Burning or dumping the carcass into the dump will be legit. I hope my holiday will turn out very good because at the same time, it will create jobs for people who want to sell their cows.

Funny person

I think that a funny person is Bill Cosby. He is a stand up comedian that emerged in the early years of stand up comedy. In fact, he was one of the first black comedians. I think he is very funny for his practical jokes and his humor is just absolutely hilarious. He has a very good use of irony too. When he does his comedy, he has a unique way of telling funny stories instead of just cracking jokes. He finds ways to make the audience laugh when they are least expecting it. Bill Cosby is definitely my favorite comedian.

Presidents Day

If I was to choose one president to give advice to, it would be president Herbert Hoover or Calvin Coolidge. First, I would have warned them about the great depression. I would have gave them advice to the best of my knowledge of saving money, and being very conservative with it. I would have told them to warn the citizens about it so they could save food and money for when they needed it. Next, I would have told the presidents to create as many jobs as possible so that people wouldn't be jobless. If they were warned about the great depression, they would have probably had the potential to stop it, and if they did, I would have given them advice about Hitler and his plans. If I told them these things, they would be able to change history and save many lives.

Valentines Day

Valentines day is a mystery. One legend has it that at least one Valentine, imprisoned by Claudius, fell in love with the daughter of his jailer. Before he was executed, he allegedly sent her a letter signed “from your Valentine,” which could be where the card-giving tradition began. I don't really think that Valentines day is very important because it doesn't really celebrate true love. It is far too cheesy for my liking. Nothing extremely important happens on the day except for couples going on dates. Instead of Valentines day, I think we should love people every day. I believe love is very important, but not really in the way that Valentines Day portrays it.

Superhero for a world falling apart

The world is falling apart. The last country standing is the small islands of the Maldives. They have unlimited resources but very limited time before zombies infect the islands and destroy the world's last human beings. they have only days to choose the most fit man and turn him in to a superhero. The man they eventually find is not very big, has dark hair, blue eyes, and has a short height of 5'8". He is very strong for his height, and also very quick on his feet. To make him a superhero, the people come up with an extremely nutritional and oxygenated blood that helps him recharge his body faster than any other human. He can now take in a lot of damage to his body without any serious damage done. Now he just needs a flying suit and some powerful weapons to be able to take the zombies off the face of the earth. Some know him as Charlie Rogers, but most know him as Zombie-slayer.

Blog with no A

Words with possession could be fun. They could be words like yours, his, or theirs. Since I'm trying not to use the letter "bleep", I won't use words like f_t, b_t, c_t, m_t, or th_t. More possession words without the "letter" could be hers, ours, or things ending in 's. The funny thing with this blog is the letter won't be used. It is quite difficult to come up with the blog's theme. Wow, I just used one possession word of the thing I'm trying ti figure out. Well, I'm interested in your interest in looking this blog over. I just used one more possession word!

no round

I wonder what everything would be like if there were no round or circular objects on earth. What everything look like would be a mystery to me. In fact, if you have ever played minecraft, this is what the world would generally look like. Actually, it wouldn't quite look like that because round things would just be composed of many many tiny block pixels. It really wouldn't be much different than now because you would be able to make round things out of non-rounded blocks. Things might be a little bit rough but things would still be about the same. It is a weird thing to imagine but in reality, I don't think anything now is actually circular either, because technically, circles can be composed of many straight lines.

MLK pacifist

Martin Luther King Jr. was a pacifist. His beliefs were that violence should not be the answer in any situation. I partially agree with him. The only problem I have with that is that some people don't exactly care about non-violence. They are deceitful and they start wars for their benefit. People will always be fighting wars no matter what. If we were all pacifist, we couldn't counteract the enemies plans of world conquest! It would be a sad world if many people were pacifist because the evil people would always prevail. We should avoid violence but also be prepared to fight when necessary.

Resolutions

The word resolution seems to be always floating around at New Year's time. It's definition is a firm decision to do or not to do something. People make resolutions that say, "I will lose ten pounds this month" or, "I will stay out of the casino this whole year." The thing about resolutions is that it has to be a serious thing almost like a vow. Resolutions are kind of pointless if you are not dead set on doing them. They also have to be realistic in your situation. You can't just say " I will be a millionaire tomorrow" if you are poor today. Here are three steps to come out with a resolution. 1. Make a resolution that is neither too hard nor too easy to do. 2. make a list of what you will do every day to complete your resolution. 3. follow the list devoutly to successfully prevail!
